DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -- Rashad Hassan and Preston Blackman scored 17 points apiece and Savannah State defeated North Carolina Central 67-57 Saturday for the Tigers' seventh straight win.
Savannah State (15-10, 8-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), which has won 10 of its last 11 games, never trailed. The Tigers led by 10 before the Eagles tied it at 25 at the 2:29 mark, then Savannah State took a 30-27 lead into halftime.
The Tigers came out of the break on a 13-4 run to push the lead back into double digits.
N.C. Central (12-12, 6-5) closed the gap to five, at 45-40, but could get no closer.
Savannah State had a 31-22 rebounding advantage, including 11 offensive boards.
Hassan was 7 of 9 from the field for the Tigers, who shot 50 percent (25 of 50), and also grabbed nine rebounds.
Ray Willis' 14 points led the Eagles, who saw their three-game winning streak snapped.
