BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) -- A family friend of one of the three Bowling Green State University students killed in a wrong-way crash says the woman was one of 16 students headed to a Dominican Republic resort for a spring break trip.
Dee Bishop of Bay City., Mich., says 19-year-old sophomore Christina Goyett had left with friends planning to be at the Detroit airport by 2 a.m. Friday in preparation for a 5:30 a.m. international flight.
Bishop called Goyett a wonderful, happy positive person who loved animals and children.
She says Goyett was studying English but thought she might become a special education teacher.
Bishop says Goyett had just visited her mother for a surprise birthday party in Bay City on Thursday, then driven back to campus.
Her mother's birthday was Friday.
